Ventilation and Cooling Project for Workshops of an Automotive Parts Company in Henan

Project Overview

A manufacturing enterprise specializing in R&D, production, and sales of commercial vehicle parts in Henan operates multiple steel-structured workshops. During summers with intense solar radiation, the steel structures absorb significant heat, causing drastic indoor temperature rises. Coupled with the large workshop areas and poor air circulation, temperatures in some workshops far exceed outdoor levels. Additionally, odors from plastic and rubber parts produced during manufacturing permeate the environment. These harsh conditions severely impact employee productivity and health, posing an urgent issue requiring resolution.

This project focuses on ventilation and cooling upgrades for two workshops: the Parts Workshop and the Assembly Workshop.

The Parts Workshop (9,000 m²) houses numerous injection molding equipment that generates substantial heat during operation.

The Assembly Workshop (7,200 m²) features overhead cranes and broad personnel activity zones with no fixed workstations.

Operation Mode

Tailored to the operational characteristics of each workshop, the design utilizes 82 Aolan WindMaster series evaporative air coolers for targeted cooling:

Parts Workshop:

Due to the concentration of injection molding equipment in the central area and complex workflows involving crane movement, coolers are installed along both sides of the roof ventilation and daylighting strips in a linear layout.

Ducts extend downward through roof openings and gaps between columns, with air outlets positioned approximately 5 meters above ground. This setup ensures efficient fresh air supply while continuously expelling indoor heat.

Assembly Workshop:

To address heat accumulation on the sun-exposed southern side, coolers are prioritized along the south-facing walls.

Leveraging high-capacity airflow, the system effectively covers heat-concentrated zones for comprehensive climate control.

The system’s precision-engineered air outlets achieve a delivery range of 15–20 meters, with adjustable angles to ensure uniform airflow distribution. Combined with forced air exchange, the design guarantees a clean, fresh, and odor-free indoor environment.

Results Demonstration

Field tests confirm that during peak summer heat, outlet temperatures stabilize around 28°C. The coolers significantly reduce workshop temperatures, improve air quality, and mitigate heat, dust, and odor-related challenges. This enhancement in workplace comfort has effectively boosted employee well-being and productivity, fully achieving the project’s objectives.
