Jingmen Data Center Indirect Evaporative Cooling Tower Project
project overview
This project is located in Zhanghe New District of Jingmen City, covering a total area of 19.8 mu and having a total construction area of approximately 20,400 square meters. The planned total rack positions are 2,300. It is responsible for the scheduling center of the northwest trunk network of Hubei Mobile, optimizing the regional communication network. It provides a computing infrastructure for the brain of Jingmen Smart City, supporting the "1+1+N" smart city framework (1 big data center, 1 support platform, N application systems), enhancing the city's "computing power + connection" capabilities. It meets the cloud storage needs of local enterprises and promotes the digitalization and industrial digitalization of the industry. The project designs indirect evaporative cooling water chillers that are environmentally friendly and energy-efficient. In winter, they serve as the direct cooling source for the data center, and in summer, they serve as the cooling source for the water-cooled chillers equipped in the data center. The requirements are as follows:
This project employs two sets of Aolan indirect evaporation water chillers, AGS570-ZLB, with each set consisting of 14 modules, forming a system. There are a total of 2 systems. During hot and humid summer weather, the indirect evaporation water chillers are used as cooling towers to provide cooling water for the water-cooled water chillers to achieve cooling. In transitional spring and autumn seasons, as well as winter, the indirect evaporation chillers directly serve as the cold source to provide chilled water to the end devices, thereby achieving energy conservation and consumption reduction of the system.
Operating mode
Summer: Operating mode 1. The Aolan indirect evaporation chiller supplies 36/30℃ chilled water for the inlet and outlet, which serves as the cooling water for the water-cooled chiller. In this mode, the indirect evaporation cooling chiller + water-cooled chiller + terminal chilled water precision air conditioner are operated.
Winter: Operating mode 2. The Aolan indirect evaporation chiller supplies 23/17℃ chilled water for inlet and outlet. The chilled water serves as the direct cooling source and is transferred through the plate heat exchanger to provide chilled water for the terminal air conditioning units of the precision type. In this mode, the indirect evaporation cooling chiller + plate heat exchanger + terminal chilled water type precision air conditioning units are operated.
Technical Highlights
Green energy conservation: Utilizing the Aolan indirect evaporative cooling unit, which fully exploits natural cooling sources, this system can save 35% of electricity compared to conventional solutions. The power utilization efficiency (PUE) is ≤ 1.25, meeting national energy-saving standards.
Social benefits
This project has become the largest data center in Jingmen City, serving the digital government, the smart city brain, and local enterprises. It significantly enhanced the regional computing power and data storage capabilities, and contributed to the scientific management of the city and the upgrading of industries. With the continuous expansion of the data center's scale and the increasingly prominent issue of energy consumption, indirect evaporative cooling technology, with its low energy consumption, high reliability, and flexible operation mode, has become an important solution in the field of data center cooling. The successful implementation of this project not only provided strong technical support for the smart city construction in Jingmen City, but also offered a reference model for the green and intelligent development of data centers across the country.
