Good News: Aolan has Won the Bid for Hubei Mobile's Multiple Regional Data Center Indirect Evaporative Cooling Cooling Tower Project, Installation is About to Start

2024-07-30

With outstanding technical strength and market competitiveness, Aolan has successfully secured the indirect evaporative cooling cooling tower project for multiple regional data centers of Hubei Mobile. Currently, some of the hub buildings have already reached their tops, and Aolan's indirect evaporative cooling cooling towers is about to be installed, ready for operation in the near future. This project covers several newly established important communication hub buildings across Hubei Province, laying a solid foundation for Aolan's deepening market presence in the data center field.

Aolan's indirect evaporative cooling cooling towers have gained significant attention for their high efficiency, energy-saving, and eco-friendly characteristics. Compared to traditional air conditioning systems, this product integrates indirect evaporative cooling and direct evaporative cooling technologies. By utilizing an efficient indirect evaporative core and direct evaporative fill, the outlet water temperature of the unit is 4-5°C lower than that of traditional open cooling towers. This significantly extends the time during which the cooling system can utilize entirely natural cold sources, greatly reducing the energy consumption of the cooling system.

Application Case: Indirect Cooling Tower Project for a Guangdong Mobile Data Center

Project Overview

This project is a national heavyweight initiative and an important part of the "Eastern Data, Western Computing" national big data strategy.  The data center features dedicated physical space, powerful computing resources (including dynamic allocation of computing resources), ample network resources (including dynamic traffic adjustment), and strong capabilities. For this project, the indirect evaporative cooling units are required to serve as direct cooling sources for temperature control in the data center during winter and to act as cooling sources for the water-cooled chillers during summer, with the following requirements:

This project uses 40 units of Aolan Indirect Evaporative Chiller AGS205-ZLAB(S), with each system consisting of 10 units, totaling 4 systems. The configuration is 3 operational and 1 backup. During the hot and humid summer, the indirect evaporative chiller units function as cooling towers, providing cooling water for the water-cooled chiller units. In transitional spring and autumn seasons, as well as winter, the indirect evaporative units directly serve as the cooling source, supplying chilled water to the terminals, achieving energy-saving and consumption reduction for the system.

Operating Mode

Summer: Operating Condition 1 mode, where the Aolan Indirect Evaporative Chiller Unit provides chilled water at 37/32°C for the water-cooled chiller units. In this mode, the indirect evaporative cooling chiller units, water-cooled chiller units, and terminal precision air conditioners with chilled water operate together.

Winter: Operating Condition 2 mode, where the Aolan Indirect Evaporative Chiller Unit provides chilled water at 20/14°C. The chilled water serves as a direct cooling source, supplied through a plate heat exchanger to the terminal precision air conditioners with chilled water.  In this mode, the indirect evaporative cooling chiller units, plate heat exchanger, and terminal precision air conditioners with chilled water are in operation.

Field Test Results

This project has undergone on-site operational condition testing by a third party with CMA/CNAS certification, meeting and exceeding the original design requirements.  The project has successfully completed acceptance, and the test results are as follows:
